Audi TT RS Roadster by O.CT Tuning

. Monday, February 28, 2011

Until today, we've never heard of Austrian tuning firm, O.CT Oberscheider Tuning GmbH (or O.CT Tuning for short). But after getting acquainted with O.CT's new Audi TT RS Roadster project, we look forward to seeing more from them in the future. Named the "Black and White Knight," upgrades to the O.CT TT RS include custom 20" wheels, a KW-lowered suspension and 80 extra horsepower under the hood.

In order to squeeze an additional eighty horses from the TT RS' 2.5-liter TFSI, O.CT added a performance cold air intake, stainless steel exhaust system (including silencer and rear silencer with control valve) and remapped the 5 cylinder's ECU. The end result is an even 420 horsepower and 420 lb/ft of torque.

Outside, the Ibis white paint with black top and trim executes the overall "black and white" theme. Further accentuating this are custom 20" black-lipped, twin five spoke wheels (which were specially designed and developed for O.CT) mated to a lowered KW V3 coil-over suspension system. For more from O.CT, be sure to visit the company's website at oct-tuning.com.

Press Release:

BLACK-AND-WHITE KNIGHT – Audi TT RS by O. CT

Among the virtues of the knights was always to be nice and helpful and also to be the best in all that they did. It seems that this principle is followed by the O.CT Company as it made an Audi TT RS to pick up this shield and to move virtues of the former knights in today. What does O.CT stands for? This means the Oberscheider Tuning GmbH Lustenau in Austria, which also has an office in Widnau (Switzerland).

The standard Audi TT RS Roadster has already 340 wild horses under the hood. And 450 Nm of torque not only speak for themselves emotionally. This was the starting point of the O.CT crew. The great performance increase was achieved through so called Tuning-Kits, by changing hardware components in conjunction with the reprogramming of vehicle electronics. The conversion kit used here has tripled the power; it includes a stainless steel exhaust system including silencer and rear silencer with control valve, a charge air cooler kit and finally a revised management of the TFSI engine. The Audi TT RS produces impressionating 420 HP and 570 Nm.

Thus, the unruly existing force can be converted into motion; the TT has forged 20-inch 5 twin-spoke alloy rims. This rim is specifically designed and developed for O.CT. It is produced in compliance of the highest quality standards. The appearance is very exciting, the details are stunning. The highest expectations are met! Special emphasis was placed on lightening of the rim, which gives each vehicle elegance and sportiness. At just 13.8 kg weight in the dimension of 9x20 ET35 and 5x112 bolt pattern the highest quality of workmanship is guaranteed. Besides, the space for the “growing” engine brake force is available. In addition, KW coilover suspension V3 provides agility in (almost!) any situation.

The tournament can be started with a flourish of trumpets…

Audi A7 3.0 TDI by Senner Tuning

. Sunday, February 27, 2011

German tuning house, Senner Tuning has revealed their interpretation of the all-new Audi A7 today. Based on the A7 3.0 TDI, Senner takes a relatively understated approach at tuning Audi's new four-door coupe. A lowered suspension, upgraded wheels and 302 horsepower are all just enough to set this Sportback apart from the crowd.

Though not as aggressive as the ABT A7 we saw earlier this month, Senner Tuning's exterior enhancements consist of an electronically lowered suspension (lowering the car by 30mm) and 20" VARA T1S wheels wrapped in Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac rubber. Under the hood, Senner boosts the A7's 3.0 TDI diesel powerplant to 302 horsepower and a chassis-twisting 457 lb/ft of torque, thanks to an upgraded ECU and stainless steel exhaust.

Video: Top Gear tests Audi RS5 vs. BMW M3 Competition Package

. Tuesday, February 22, 2011

While watching the latest episode of Top Gear, we were ecstatic to see - halfway through Jeremy Clarkson's test of the BMW M3 Competition Package - the first sight of four rings in Season 16. Our enthusiasm was twofold; not only have we been dying to hear what Clarkson had to say about the Audi RS5, we were also very anxious to learn both car's Stig-driven lap times. After watching and reading numerous RS5 vs. M3 comparisons however, we can't say we were too surprised by the result.

Like nearly all of Top Gear's tests, the "winner" of Sunday's M3/RS5 match-up chiefly revolves around one factor: which car is fastest around the track. In this case, that would be the M3. Noting the damp conditions though, we were surprised by the full second gap in lap times (a factor that should have given the quattro-driven RS5 an advantage). We imagine if the track was wetter (or better yet, if there was some snow involved) the outcome would have been very different.

So, if you're looking for the faster car around a track and live in a moderate climate (or can afford a second car to drive in the winter), the M3 is a very valid choice. However, for those not as concerned about lap times and want a car almost as fast that can be driven year-round, the RS5 is our answer. Furthermore, despite this blog's obvious bias, we think the RS5 is far better looking.

Audi reveals sketches of A3 sedan concept for Geneva

. Monday, February 21, 2011

On the heels of this year's Geneva Motor Show, Audi has today revealed initial sketches of the all-new A3 concept car destined for the Swiss show in March. The Audi A3 concept is a four-seat "notchback sedan" and is said carry roughly the same proportions as the B5-bodied A4. Unlike its millennial sibling however, the Audi A3 concept sports a 408 horsepower, inline five-cylinder engine (Ă  la quattro concept) along with a low-slung design and the latest LED technology. Press release and photos after the jump.

Press Release:

Audi presents A3 concept in Geneva

Ingolstadt, 2011-02-21 - Audi will present an attractive technological concept car based on the coming generation of the Audi A3 at the 81st International Geneva Motor Show in early March 2011. The four-seater notchback sedan offers a glimpse of the future expansion of the A3 family.

The sporty yet elegant design of the Audi A3 concept integrates the single-frame grille with its tapered upper corners and headlights with the latest generation of LED technology. The low, flowing roof dome and a coupe-like, low C pillar are among the defining features of the side view.

The Audi A3 concept is 4.44 meters (14.57 feet) long, 1.84 meters (6.04 feet) wide and just 1.39 meters (4.56 feet) high. These proportions emphasize the dynamism of the car’s appearance, as do the performance figures for the drive unit. The five-cylinder turbocharged engine has a power output of 300 kW (408 hp). It distributes its power to all four wheels through a seven-speed S tronic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive.

Bullet-proof bliss: The new Audi A8 L Security

. Tuesday, February 15, 2011

There's something about Audi's A8-based luxury tanks that we've always been amazed by. Perhaps it's our love of James Bond films; or maybe it's knowing that the car's windows can stop a round from an AK-47. Taking the newly facelifted A8 L W12 and adding 450 man-hours of bullet-proof armor, explosive emergency door releases and even a floor capable of withstanding the blast of a military hand-grenade; the all-new Audi A8 L Security proves that #ProgressIs bad ass.

As the A8 L Security's primary function is to protect its occupants from any conceivable goon squad assault, the car's "safety cell" is perhaps the most important component. Looking past the LED headlights, chrome accents and rich leather upholstery is a super-tough combination of hot-formed armored steel, aramide fabric, ceramics, special alloyed aluminum and multilayer glass. That's enough to withstand a hail of 7.62mm gunfire, and even a blast from a wide array of explosive weaponry.

Of course, evading the enemy should be your driver's first instinct. In that case, you'll be happy to know a 6.3-liter W12 is at the other other end of the go-pedal. Pumping out 500 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the A8 Security's W12 is capable of launching this posh panzer from 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds on to an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. Not bad for a car whose doors alone weigh nearly 800 lbs.

In case the aforementioned goon squad manages to stop your A8 L Security, Audi's patented emergency exit system has you covered. Press the tamper-proof switch, pull the door handle and pyrotechnical separating screws in the hinges detach the door from the body. And just in case the bad guys think they can gas you out, there's even a fresh-air system that, with a push of a button, supplies fresh breathing air to the interior via two oxygen tanks and vents in the roof lining.

Finally, amidst the ballistic grade armor, emergency exits and other high-security features are the same creature comforts and level of luxury found in any other A8 L. The standard package includes full leather upholstery, 3D MMI navigation, a four-zone climate control system with an ionizer to freshen the air, electric rear blinds, Bose surround sound system and a TV tuner to name a few.

Audi notes that following this year's introduction of the W12-power A8 L Security, an even more potent powerplant will follow in 2012. We're hoping that means the new 4.0T V8 shared with the future S8, which should be good for much faster acceleration and top speed. For more information on the A8 L Security, check out the full press release below.

Press Release:

High-security version of the Audi A8 soon to be launched

Audi is introducing a new, exclusive model – the A8 L Security. The long-wheelbase high-security version of the A8 meets the strictest guidelines in force for civilian vehicles, with a host of special security features available in addition to its heavy armoring. At sales launch Audi will offer the W12 engine, with another unit to follow in 2012. Both engines combine superior power with high efficiency.

Body
At 5.27 meters (17.29 ft) in length, the Audi A8 L Security is a large, representative luxury sedan, hardly distinguishable to the eye from the production version. The LED headlights, which use light-emitting diodes for all functions, lend a striking expression to its front. They are part of the standard package in the A8 L Security W12.

When developing the basic design for the A8 model line, Audi engineers already had the high-security version in mind from the very outset. The result is a totally integrated concept far superior to any retrofit solution currently available on the market. All of the major components were analyzed with regard to their deformation properties, giving the A8 L Security an excellent crash performance that is also mindful of the other party involved.

The armored sedan’s custom security modifications are performed by hand in a small, well-guarded workshop – on a production floor with specially secured doors, where the use of cellular phones is strictly prohibited. The basis for the high-security car is a previously modified aluminum production body constructed at the Neckarsulm plant as per the Audi Space Frame (ASF) principle. Specially trained technicians put in roughly 450 hours of work to incorporate the security features – in the uncompromisingly high quality Audi is known for. When this stage of the process is complete, the car returns to the factory for final assembly.

The A8 L Security has been officially certified by a German-government ballistics testing facility in Munich for compliance with the class VR 7 ballistic protection standard (tested as per BRV 2009 guidelines). The abbreviation BRV stands for Bullet Resistant Vehicles. The car’s resistance to explosions was tested as per ERV 2010 guidelines (ERV = Explosion Resistant Vehicles). Class VR 7 ballistic protection imposes the strictest standards on civilian high-security sedans. The sheet metal and glazing in the passenger cell must withstand firing with NATO hard-core ammunition. In certain areas, the armoring on the Audi A8 L Security even complies with the criteria for class VR 9 and VR 10.

Integrated as a unitized component of the body, the high-security sedan’s safety cell features a convergence of extremely tough, resistant materials – hot-formed armored steel, aramide fabric, ceramics, special alloyed aluminum and multilayer glass. Overlapping protective materials at the joints provide the utmost level of security throughout the occupant cell. The interior armoring weighs approximately 720 kilograms (1,587.33 lb).

The aluminum side sills have solid steel sections built in. These provide increased protection against explosive weapons – an area that has seen a marked stiffening of requirements in recent years. Made of an innovative aluminum alloy, the car’s armored floor serves the same purpose. The Audi A8 L Security is capable of withstanding an attack with a military hand grenade.

Even an explosive charge defined from the test program does not pose a lethal threat to passengers, as demonstrated by measurements taken during testing on dummies.

The side windows, windshield and rear window are all made of special glass with a polycarbonate coating in the inside to prevent spalling. Optional electromechanical window openers operate the side windows, allowing them to be lowered nearly all the way. The excess weight of the windows amounts to just over 300 kilograms (661.39 lb). A closing assist feature comes standard for the doors – which weigh an additional 360 kilograms (793.66 lb) altogether. A door-stop function holds each door open in any desired position.

A key area in the A8 L Security is the “communication box” in the luggage compartment. In addition to the control units for the vehicle and communications electronics, it holds the optional components that further enhance the passengers’ safety, along with the additional battery. The heavily armored communication box is novel in another way: It has comparatively light ceramic doors, and its frames are made of aluminum. Customers can also request special protection for the battery and the fuel tank.

A standard two-way communication system allows passengers in the A8 L Security to communicate with the outside world when the windows are closed. The system makes use of a speaker in the single-frame grille as well as microphones for the cabin and exterior.

Despite the high level of security it offers, the A8 L Security is a relatively light armored car. As is always the case in an Audi, the lightweight design plays a central role here. Outfitted with the W12 engine, the A8 L Security is the lightest vehicle among its peers.

High-security features
For A8 L Security customers, a multitude of special options are available for enhanced security. Among these is the emergency exit system, a technology patented by Audi. When the driver or rear passenger presses a tamperproof switch and pulls one of the inside door handles, pyrotechnical separating screws in the hinges detach the door from the body. The door can then be knocked out with a slight push.

Another security feature is the fire extinguisher system, which is activated via heat sensors or by pushing a button. The extinguishing agent flows from two canisters installed in the luggage compartment through two tubes running along the underfloor. Nozzles spray the agent into the wheel arches, onto the underfloor, onto the tank, and into the engine compartment.

The emergency fresh-air system operates with two oxygen cartridges housed in the protected area. At the push of a button, the system supplies fresh breathing air to the interior via vents in the roof lining. The supply lasts long enough for the car to pass through a danger zone or get out of a danger zone it is currently in. The system works by generating positive pressure in the vehicle interior to prevent toxic gases from penetrating the cabin. Yet another option is what Audi calls security start – a feature that allows the driver to start the engine remotely via a radio signal.

Numerous additional solutions round out the offering: a smoke extractor for the passenger compartment, an LED signaling system for convoy travel, flashing lights, a siren, a preparation for professional mobile radio systems, a flag holder, a permanently installed telephone, an accident data recorder, an additional rearview camera and a heated windshield plus partially heated side windows. Going beyond all of this, Audi will also ensure customers’ special requests are taken care of an individual basis.

Interior
The interior of the A8 L Security is captivating, with its spacious design and workmanship on a craftsman’s level. The comfort on board is first class – the standard package includes a four-zone climate control system with an ionizer to freshen the air, electric rear blinds, the sonorous Bose surround sound system and a TV tuner. In the rear are two individual, seats with power adjustment. Also featuring a versatile adjustment range, the front comfort seats offer heating as well as optional massage and ventilation functions. In addition, the A8 L W12 Security comes with a standard full-leather package.

On request Audi will install the “relaxation seat” – a widely adjustable right-hand rear seat with a power-adjustable footrest, heating and massage. Also available is a full-length center console with large storage compartments, complemented by the rear seat entertainment system with two 10.2-inch displays. Optional features such as a folding table, a refrigerator and a parking heater make the time spent in the car even more pleasant.

Assistance and multimedia systems
For the high-security version of the A8 L, Audi offers virtually the entire gamut of advanced technologies available for the production version. The standard MMI Navigation plus system works with a large hard disk, a high-resolution eight-inch monitor and a fast 3D graphics processor. Its groundbreaking feature, however, is the touchpad – the MMI touch. It gives the driver intuitive control of many functions. The navigation destination, for example, can be entered by tracing the letters on the pad with a finger.

MMI navigation plus is tightly integrated with the assistance and safety systems in the Audi A8 L Security. It reads the road ahead and provides the data to the control units for the automatic transmission, the headlights and the optional adaptive cruise control with stop & go function. With their increased intelligence, these systems can recognize complex scenarios and predictively support the driver.

The Audi pre sense safety system can reduce the severity of accidents and their consequences in many cases. The A8 L Security comes equipped with the pre sense basic version of the system, combined with the pre sense rear feature, which is coupled with the Audi side assist lane-changing system. Other optional systems enhance safety and comfort even further. These include Audi pre sense front as a component of ACC stop & go, night vision assistant with highlighting of detected pedestrians and Audi lane assist, which detects boundary lines on the roadway.

A standard high-end feature is park assistance plus with Audi Top View – a system consisting of four cameras mounted on the car to monitor its surroundings. A computer compiles images from the cameras and presents them in various views on the onboard monitor. The Cornerview function gives the driver a glimpse of traffic crossing in front of the sedan – a practical aid when maneuvering through narrow exits, for example.

Audi also offers many attractive multimedia modules. The Audi A8 L Security is outfitted with the Bluetooth car phone online as standard.

A complete, fast connection to the Internet is established via an integrated UMTS module, and a partnership with Google endows the car with innovative, intelligent functions. Passengers can connect their mobile terminal devices to a WLAN hotspot. For discreet telephoning, separate telephone handsets are available as an option.

Drivetrain
Audi is launching the new A8 L Security with a superb engine – the W12. The direct-injected gasoline engine owes its name to the W-shaped layout of its cylinders – four rows of three cylinders each, merged into two banks. From a displacement of 6.3 liters, the compact, lightweight W12 pumps out 368 kW (500 hp) of power and 625 Nm (460.98 lb-ft) of torque, with the latter readily available at 4,750 rpm.

The W12 is captivating, with its smooth running performance, its subtle, musical sound and its power. It accelerates the A8 L Security from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.3 seconds. In consideration of the tires, top speed is limited to 210 km/h (130.49 mph). The high-security sedan consumes just 13.5 liters of fuel on average per 100 km (17.42 US mpg) – by far the lowest figure among its direct competitors (performance and consumption figures are preliminary). Compared with the predecessor model generating 331 kW (450 hp), fuel consumption has dropped by 3.0 liters per 100 kilometers – that's an improvement of 18 percent.

In the coming year, Audi will offer a second engine version, which will combine outstanding pulling power with surprising efficiency. Its average consumption of 10 to 11 liters per 100 km (23.52 to 21.38 US mpg) will earn it a best-in-class ranking in terms of fuel efficiency.

In both engine variants, power is transmitted via an eight-speed tiptronic featuring a large overall gear spread. Its control system is electronic, operated with an elegant selector lever or rocker switches at the steering wheel. The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system conducts the power from the engine to all four wheels. In the standard configuration, the sporty drive is emphasized at the rear; if the situation calls for it, the drive system redirects a majority of the torque input to the axle with the better traction.

Chassis
The A8 L Security provides luxurious ride comfort. Audi developed its chassis, brake system and electronic control systems specifically for the increased weight; in the wheel control arms, for example, the tensile strengths, materials and wall thickness have all been recalibrated. The adaptive air suspension with controlled damping is integrated in the Audi drive select system, which enables fine-tuning of a number of parameters. The optional dynamic steering rounds out the range on offer.

The high-security sedan is fitted with standard 19-inch forged wheels featuring a semipolished, two-tone finish. The specially sized 255/720 tires have a high load index of 117. Synthetic rings on the rims allow the vehicle to continue traveling at speeds up to 80 km/h (49.71 mph) even after a malfunction has occurred.

A tire pressure monitoring system that continuously checks the settings is also part of the standard equipment. Audi offers a full-size spare tire as an option.

The Audi A8 L Security W12 will be ready for delivery in late summer. An additional engine will follow in 2012. Audi supports its customers with an extensive range of services and a special training course for drivers and owners.

One of a kind, Viper Green Audi RS4 comes up for sale

. Saturday, February 12, 2011

According to Robert De Niro's character in Meet the Parents, "they say geniuses pick green." If that adage holds true, we imagine only a mad genius would choose a Viper Green Audi RS4 (a shade from Porsche's palette). A mad genius, in the absolute best sense of the words. Of course, we're no strangers to green Audis. Most recently we featured Jack Baruth's one-off Porsche green S5. Hell, we even devoted an entire post to the envious hue last St. Patrick's day. But we have never, ever, witnessed a green Audi quite as cool as this one. And for good reason I guess, since this is the only Viper Green B7 Audi RS4 in existence. Now, due to the owner's impending relocation to Germany, this rarity can be yours.

After reading the original listing on Teamspeed, we immediately contacted the RS4's owner, Derik, for more background on the car. Luckily for us, Derik is our kind of guy; a long time Audi owner, with great taste in four-ringed rides. In his own words, here's how Derik came to own this RS4.

"After being a long time Audi fan and owner of various coupes and 5000 quattro models, we decided to go to Chicago on our search for an RS4. Upon our arrival to The Audi Exchange, we found a multitude of color choices at the time. Red, white, black, orange, and Viper Green. The said model was sitting on the showroom floor. We were told by the salesman that the car was owned by the owner of the dealership (who also owns The Porsche Exchange). It seems he has ordered the car from the factory in Viper Green (exclusive) because he was also ordering a Viper Green GT3RS Porsche for his daughter. The car had 50 miles on it, so it had had hardly been driven. The reason for him selling the car is that he was frustrated that Audi would not honor his request of installing green piping on the seats. We were quick to purchase the car since it was quite unique."

Quite unique indeed. We can't believe that Audi would deny matching the seat's piping in green. In fact, green piping would have been an extra special touch. However, had it not been for this frustration, Derik would have never found his dream car. And now, Derik's move to Germany will hopefully open a door to someone else's dream. Located for sale in Illinois, the rest of the car's details can be found in the original listing as follows:

"International relocation to Germany forces sale. Only B7 RS4 Viper Green (Porsche GT3RS) exclusive factory paint in the world. Very low 8800 miles. All original except, window tint, and clear bra. No accidents or stories. Still smells new. All documentation, books, keys, touch up paint, including build sheet (see pic). Never seen ANY foul weather. Warranty until 3/31/2012 or 50k miles. Has CPO until 3/31/2014 or 100k but have been told will not transfer to new owner. Please feel free to call, e-mail, or send PM for additional questions. Thanks for looking. $54,900."

If you're interested, please contact Derik via his contact details listed at Teamspeed. Or, contact us and we'll forward the message.

Remember the 820 horsepower Audi RS6 Avant we posted last week? Well the folks who created that monster (MRC Tuning), have released a new video. Known as a Rolling Road Day, the video showcases some of the S and RS-badged Audis from UK-based forum, AudiSRS.com, all gathered at MRC's shop in Banbury for a little Sunday fun on the dyno.

ABT Sportsline reveals Audi A7 tuning programs

. Thursday, February 10, 2011

As their first new model for 2011, ABT Sportsline has today revealed the ABT A7. Offering three levels of tune for both the Audi A7's 3.0 TDI and TFSI engines, the ABT A7 boasts up to 310hp in 3.0 TDI form and 410 gasoline-driven horses from the TFSI. Of course, like all of ABT's creations, what's under the hood is only one piece of the package. A lowered suspension, enhanced aerodynamics and 19" or 21" wheels - coupled with an engine tune of your choice - all make what ABT describes as "elegance in its most impressive form."

Making use of what ABT calls their POWER and POWER S tuning programs, both the 3.0 TDI and TFSI powerplants are brought up to the discerning personal standards of ABT Sportsline's General Manager, Christian Abt. As Abt explains; "For us the A7 is a car whose optical qualities also must be reflected in its driving performance." Adding to the driving performance Mr. Abt speaks of, is an increase in the 3.0 TDI's output from a stock 245hp to a POWER-tuned 282hp and POWER S-tuned 310 horses with 450 ft/lbs of torque. "We think that the diesel engine suits the A7 perfectly, as it combines torque and unbridled power with the highest possible economy," says Abt. On the gasoline side, the 3.0 TFSI gets a boost from 310hp to a grin-inducing 410 horses from ABT's POWER tuning package.

Outside, the ABT A7 receives the same fit and finish those familiar with this Bavarian tuner have come to expect. ABT side skirts, front spoiler and rear skirt set (with the distinctive 4-pipe exhaust unit) round out the aerodynamic enhancements. The A7's air suspension is lowered by use of ABT's "Level Control" system which should give some added stick to twisties. Rounding out the package are a choice of 19" or 21" ABT designer wheels and high-performance tires.

Look for the ABT A7 to officially debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, March 3rd through the 13th.

Press Release:

Elegance in its most impressive form – the new ABT A7

Kempten, Germany Feb. 9 2011 - Your first glance at the elongated outline of the A7 is a magical moment which you will want to repeat again and again. Like an elegant feline predator, the vehicle shows that it is ready to pounce at any time and is very dynamic. The ABT side skirts support this impression further. They make the extravagant Audi seem even more muscular, it is a sports car in a perfect tailor-made suit. The front spoiler and the rear skirt set with the distinctive 4-pipe exhaust unit underline the fact that ABT has placed special emphasis on "sport" with the new A7 Sportback.

"For us the A7 is a car whose optical qualities also must be reflected in its driving performance", explains Christian Abt. The General Manager of the traditional Bavarian company, who is responsible for technical developments, stresses that the A7 has to meet and the high demands of its owner, both as a premium road vehicle and as a sporting machine. This applies to both the 3.0 TFSI and the 3.0 TDI. "We think that the diesel engine suits the A7 perfectly, as it combines torque and unbridled power with the highest possible economy", says Christian Abt. With ABT POWER the series standard 245 HP (180 kW) is increased to a powerful 282 HP (207 kW). The torque also rises from 450 Nm to an impressive 500 Nm. The big turbo diesel runs even more powerfully with ABT POWER S: this is because the "in-house" turbo charger from ABT SPORTSLINE is applied and the Sportback therefore brings 310 HP (228 kW) onto the road. With its powerful torque of 610 Nm the machine is both superior and offers high-torque and quick acceleration in every situation. The ABT A7 becomes a real sports car with a petrol engine: thanks to ABT POWER the six cylinders now offer 410 HP (302 kW), compared to the series-standard 300 HP (221 kW).

ABT offers designer light alloy wheels in the sizes 19 to 21 inch to suit the extravagant CoupĂ© limousine with the practical tailgate. The alloys are, of course, also available in combination with high-performance tyres, so that nothing else stands in the way of driving enjoyment. In combination with the lowering of the air suspension thanks to ABT Level Control, the ABT A7 now sticks to the road even more. Impressive performance, elegance and extravagance now have a new name – ABT A7.

Audi AG reports best January on record with 22.6% jump in sales

. Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Following in-step with Audi of America's sales report last week, Audi AG is today reporting a stunning 22.6% jump in global sales, marking the best January on company record. Notable factors of the month's success were a 14.8% increase in German A1 sales along with strong orders from corporate customers and outstanding growth in Asia. With a total of 95,400 cars sold in January alone, Audi sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer modestly predicted; "Based on the current order situation, we expect a strong first quarter in 2011." Full press release after the jump.

- Sales chief Schwarzenbauer: “Expect a strong first quarter”
- Significant double-digit growth in all regions
- Up 14.8 percent in Germany thanks to the A1 and corporate customers

Ingolstadt, 2011-02-08 - AUDI AG started the new year with a 22.6 percent jump in sales, as the company delivered around 95,400 cars to customers worldwide in January. The European export market provided strong momentum. Sales increased significantly here in what continues to be a difficult business climate. The new Audi A1 and a continuing increase in sales to corporate customers provided for a 14.8 percent increase in Germany. Audi continued the successful developments of the past few months in the United States and China.

“Based on the current order situation, we expect a strong first quarter in 2011”, said Peter Schwarzenbauer, AUDI AG Board Member for Marketing and Sales. “Development of the business in our European export markets is important to our annual forecast, which calls for 1.2 million cars to be sold. And I see strong signs here, with an increase of 18.6 percent in January alone”, Schwarzenbauer continued.

Audi recorded significant growth in all core European markets, bucking the trend. While the overall markets continued to decline in Audi’s strongest foreign European markets – such as Spain, Italy and the UK – Audi’s sales figures increased considerably, including a jump of about 23.7 percent in Spain. Following Western Europe, the Eastern European markets are now also growing rapidly for Audi. Sales in the most important market in the region – Russia – grew by 48.4 percent in January.

Audi’s sales profited from the increased production of the Audi A1 in both the European export markets and Germany. At the same time, sales to commercial customers continued to rise in January. In all, AUDI AG sold 13,381 in the domestic German market, an increase of 14.8 percent over the same month last year.

Worldwide, Audi’s SUV models were particularly successful in January. The Audi Q5, with 12,900 units sold, was once again the best-selling vehicle in its premium segment. Sales of its big brother, the Audi Q7, also increased by more than 50 percent compared to the previous year. The model enjoyed particularly high demand in China, the US and the UK.

In China, the brand with the four rings sold 22,196 cars in January, an increase of 32.1 percent. Sales in the US rose by 20 percent to 7,812 cars. This growth was seen throughout the Americas and the Asia-Pacific regions. Audi gained 46.2 percent in volume in South America, while sales in Canada also increased, by 29 percent. Sales figures in Japan grew by 41.6 percent.
