In his latest episode of Chris Harris on Cars on YouTube's Drive channel, Chris Harris explores, hands on, two street cars born from the Group B golden era of rally racing: the Ford RS200 and the legendary Audi Sport quattro. With a production run of roughly 200 units and an original price tag of 200K+ German Marks, the opportunity to drive an original Sport quattro doesn't come around very often—even if your Chris Harris. As Harris notes in the video's description, "...the chance to drive an RS200 and a Sport Quattro nearly sent me to the nut-house. Fire up the Quattro!" Video after the jump.
FYI: For those of you not interested in the RS200, the Sport quattro bit starts at the 8:00 minute mark.

Very nice Audi Sport quattro clone found on eBay
With just 224 examples built to meet homologation requirements, you're likely to find the Audi Sport quattro at the top of any quattroholic's wish list. Unfortunately, finding one - and accumulating the wealth to afford it - usually keeps this elusive four-ringed unicorn well beyond the boundaries of reality for most. The good news however, is companies have offered conversion kits to shorten the wheel base of a standard Ur-quattro to become the next best thing. Found for sale on eBay UK is just such a car.
Although the seller's description is quite brief, we know that this car was the second of only 22 Sport quattro conversions built by Dialinx in the UK and has been "magazine featured." The condition appears to be pristine for any Ur-quattro; as the seller claims, the car has been "polished and hoovered 3 times a week" and always wears a cover. Under the hood, the 2.2-liter 5-cylinder is said to boast 300-hp. The only obvious feature distinguishing this car from a real Sport quattro is the slope of the windshield. All in all though, we'd say the £21,000.00 asking price seems quite fair, especially considering the genuine article could cost at least 5 times as much.

Quattros in the Snow: New photos of Audi RS3, A7, RS5 and more
In addition to the reveal of the new A1 quattro, Audi has released today a photo gallery that we can only describe as a quattroholic's ultimate winter wonderland. Included in the set are new photos of the RS3 Sportback (in Daytona Grey), A1 quattro, A7, RS5, S4, TT RS and Ur-quattro rally cars. All set to a snowy backdrop near the Mont-Tremblant resort outside of Montreal, Canada.
We find the choice of Canadian location (and conspicuous Ontario license plates) to display a number of vehicles not currently available in North America, quite odd. While the A7, RS5 and TT RS all have a green-light for future sale in the US and Canada, we hope the inclusion of the RS3 and A1 quattro to this photo shoot could foreshadow future availability (fingers crossed).

Audi tagged each photo "Fascination quattro Montreal 2011-01-07/09." Whether or not all of these models will be available at next weekend's Fascination quattro winter driving event is not yet known. For more information on Fascination quattro, please visit fascinationquattro.com.
UPDATE: This lineup was put together as a PR event for "select" members of the press. Apparently, various UK and European journalists were able to get behind the wheel of the RS3 last weekend. North American journalists (not us, unfortunately) are heading to Montreal this weekend for the same opportunity. As far as we know, goodies such as the RS3 will not be available as part of the public event.

Video: Slow motion homage to Group B rally reminisces "The Days of Madness"
YouTube rally video maven, Amjayes, has released a new tribute video. Titled "Group B Monsters - The Days of Madness," the video is an artistic, slow motion compilation of clips showcasing the glory days of Group B rally racing. As noted in the video's introduction, 4-time World Rally Champion, Juha Kankkunen may have said it best: "WRC is for boys. Group B was for men." And of course, the video features plenty of footage of Audi's venerable Group B quattro monsters.
Perhaps the only down side of the video is the soundtrack. While the chosen music is perfectly suited to the film's emotionally charged imagery; not one rev, chirp or wastegate whistle can be heard. So, to fill the void, we've attached another video from Amjayes, appropriately titled "pure engine sounds."

Ur-Nightmare: Audi quattro convertible
We've witnessed our share of horrendous body kits, tuners gone wild and even all four installments of The Fast and the Furious. This however, might reign supreme in a special four-ringed section of tuner hell. Fellow Quattroholics, brace yourselves. What you're about to see cannot be unseen. Behold, the elusive, Audi Ur-quattro convertible.
First off, no, this is not a production car. According to the vehicle's listing, this 1985 Audi quattro was customized by a now defunct (wonder why?), 1980's era tuning firm named Treser. Complete with wide body kit, finned rocker panels, deep dish BBS wheels and a folding hard top, this Audi Ur-quattro convertible embodies all that was wrong with 1980's tuning. On a positive note though, it does have 340 horsepower.
But of course, viewing this car as a sacrilege of the mighty Ur-quattro is just our opinion. After all, it was the 80's, I thought neon colored clothing and Flock of Seagulls was cool back then. If you're interested, the car is for sale in Germany for 56,700 Euros (roughly $75,000).

Video: Audi quattro Concept meets Audi Sport quattro
Earlier this week, the Audi quattro Concept was conspicuously spotted on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. As the photographer of those spy shots noted, the quattro Concept escaped the glitz and glitter of the 2010 LA Auto Show for a very special photoshoot and joyride with an original Audi Sport quattro. The following videos not only show the quattro Concept on the road but also a meeting of two iconic four-ringed five-cylinders from Audi's past and future.
The first video contains a full overview of the Audi quattro Concept narrated over various beauty shots and driving scenes. The second is a six and a half minute video beginning with exterior and interior detail shots followed by about 4 minutes of uninterrupted driving scenes set to a lovely five-cylinder soundtrack. And of course, both videos feature a red 1984 Audi Sport quattro as a special guest star.
