Report: Audi to buy Ducati for 860 million euros

. Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Following speculation of a deal earlier this year, a report from Bloomberg today confirms that Audi is indeed set to buy Italian motorcycle-maker, Ducati for about 860 million Euros ($1.1 billion). The Ducati deal would allow Audi to become even more competitive with rival BMW, who long cornered the market of building both luxury automobiles and motorcycles. The purchase would also bring in significant revenue to the Volkswagen Group, as today's report notes that Ducati boasts more revenue than that of Lamborghini and Bugatti combined.

The report notes that the deal is set to face VW supervisory board approval tomorrow.

So, we imagine there are few bike enthusiasts out there. Will Audi's purchase of the brand now make you more likely to ride/buy a Ducati?
