. Monday, August 23, 2010

Following the Audi A7's highly anticipated reveal, it was easy for many folks to forget that an all-new Audi A6 is on it's way. Spy photos of this next generation (C7) Audi A6 test mule have quickly made their rounds across just about every major automotive news outlet in recent weeks and we've been anxiously waiting for a chance to spot the car for ourselves. Luckily, one of our spy photographers found himself at just the place and time last week to snap a these photos.

Like the A7, the next generation Audi A6 will be based upon Audi's modular longitudinal (MLB) platform and will likely share a close relation in composition and size. Considering we've yet to hear any official reports, engines are still speculation at this point. However, Car Magazine reports a 180bhp 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder, 201bhp 2.8-litre FSI and supercharged 296bhp 3.0-litre TFSI and a 201bhp or 242bhp version of the 3.0-litre TDI are expected.

We've included a couple of renderings to offer a better a glimpse of what the 2012 Audi A6 could look like. It's hard to accurately make out any lines beneath the psychedelic camouflage but we'd be more than happy if the production car looked similar to this rendered speculation.

In addition to the powerplants we listed above, Car Magazine provided a wide array of next-gen Audi A6 speculations, including an expected debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Read the full article at Car Magazine Online.
