Audi R8 V8 Spyder Photos Emerge

. Monday, August 23, 2010

Audi announced the addition of a more affordable, V8-powered version of the R8 Spyder in the beginning of July. Since then, aside from V10-based configurator images, we have yet to actually see the car. That is, until now. While digging through the pages of Audi's German homepage, we came across these new R8 V8 Spyder photos. The cues are subtle but the quad exhaust, 3-finned front/4-finned rear grilles, and the lack of "V10" badging all indicate these to be the first official press/marketing photos (that we've seen) of the Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro.

Powered by the same 4.2-liter FSI V8 as it's hardtop sibling, the R8 V8 Spyder boasts 430 horsepower, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds and on up to a top speed of 300 km/h (185.79 mph). The R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro will be rolling into German showrooms in the third quarter of 2010. Sales will start at a base price of €121,000. Currently, we have no details of US availability or pricing.
