Inside Line reports Audi RS5 coming to US by September 2011

. Tuesday, April 20, 2010

In the past month or so, rumors and subsequent confirmations of Audi's plan to bring the RS5 to North America have spread like wild fire. At the beginning of this month, we reported Car and Driver's confirmation that the Audi RS5 was indeed US-bound. At the time however, a projected launch date was still anyone's guess. Inside Line today reports that American quattroholics can look for the 444-hp, M3 fighter to hit US showrooms by September 2011.

It's noted that this new intel comes from a "product marketing contact" within quattro GmbH who tells Inside Line; "We have voted on it and the car is coming over definitely. But, it will be more than a year out from the start of deliveries in Western Europe."

In addition to the target US debut date, Inside Line speculates that American RS5 pricing should be set somewhere just north of $75,000 (by taking the European RS5 premium of 32.4% over S5 pricing and adding options for a standard "North American kit").
