Report: Audi quattro concept nears production decision

. Friday, July 1, 2011

A report published yesterday by Edmunds Inside Line reveals that the Audi quattro concept's production fate may only be a few months away. Citing Inside Line: "quattro GmbH boss Stephan Reil confirmed the final decision has been delayed but he is "optimistic" that the concept, which debuted at the 2010 Paris Auto Show last fall, will get the green light for production." We certainly have our fingers crossed for this one. Petition anyone?

As noted by our friends at Fourtitude, the report can be a bit confusing at times; specifically pointing to Inside Line's reference to a RS5-derived powerplant. Considering the concept is powered by a longitudinally-mounted derivative of the 2.5-liter five cylinder from the TT RS/RS3, we think a few details may have been lost in translation. Either way, as long as Inside Line's intel on the time frame is accurate, we should all know more by September.
