A look at 034Motorsport's Time Attack Audi A4 quattro

. Friday, November 12, 2010

Our friend Javad at 034Motorsport recently gave us a heads-up to a new article they've released describing, in amazing detail, the many modifications to their behemoth B5 Audi A4 quattro Time Attack race car. The car has seen a few incarnations over the years; initially using a 12-valve VR6 motor and later a R32 VR6 based powerplant. For 2010, the A4 underwent modifications specifically designed for the Redline Time Attack Series. A high-revving (8500 RPM) 2.0 liter 4-cylinder 5-valve is now under the hood, putting down 480 horsepower to the wheels. Is it fast? Yes. It is very, very fast.

While we're going to direct you to 034Motorsport's technical insight article in a moment, we first want to put a few things in perspective. Last month, the 034Motorsport Time Attack Audi A4 finished second in the 2010 Global Tuner Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. The car's best lap time was a blistering 1:31.221 (1 minute, 31.221 seconds). To give you an idea how fast that is, Motor Trend tested a few supercars around Laguna last year. In MT's test, a 2010 Dodge Viper ACR posted a time of 1:33.92, a 2009 Corvette ZR1 posted 1:35.83, and an Audi R8 4.2 was good for 1:40.75 around the track. So yeah, this is one hot A4.

Now for the specifications. Click the photo above for the Time Attack A4's detailed spec sheet. From there, head over to 034Motorsport's website and check out their amazing technical insight article.

Oh, and we can't forget a few pics. We've included a small photo gallery below. The 034Motorsport gallery has hundreds more.
