Audi TT RS Tuner Showdown - Avus TT RS 420 vs. MTM TT RS

. Wednesday, January 6, 2010

The lucky crew at Autobild had the unique experience of testing not one, but two of Germany's best tuned Audi TT RS's. Pitting the Avus TT RS 420 against the MTM TT RS is no easy feat, considering just how spectacular the "stock" TT RS is. So it's no surprise how close these two cars are in nearly every comparison.

By the numbers the MTM and Avus TT RS are very, very close competition. The Avus manages to squeeze 420hp from the 5-cylinder where the MTM produces 406hp. As far as acceleration goes, both cars are identical, reaching 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. It's only until 200 km/h that the Avus beats the MTM by a miniscule 3/10ths of a second (15.3 sec vs. 15.6 sec). The MTM does edge out the Avus by two km/h in top speed (Avus = 295 km/h MTM = 297 km/h).

As you know, there's more to any car test than just numbers. Make sure to check out Autobild's full article, along with 41 photos from the competition.
