Audi A1: First Production Photos Revealed?

. Saturday, December 5, 2009

It seems that the Croatian car magazine, Auto Klub has released the first photos of the new Audi A1 in production form. These are most likely photochops, but still good none the less. In addition to the photos, it looks like the magazine also includes a plethora of details regarding the new A1. However, since the photos are so small, added to the fact that no one we know speaks Croatian, we're at a loss. So for the time being, this is what currently is spinning through the rumormill.

So far, we know that the Audi A1 is due to go on sale late 2010 and will be in direct competition with BMW's Mini line. Therefore, expect the A1 to be priced comparatively with the Mini. In addition, according to Autocar.co.uk, the car's powertrain options will closely resemble that of the VW Polo. So look for gas engines to range from a 84-104 hp 1.2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder to a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 120 hp. Also, a 168hp high performance turbocharged and supercharged 1.4-liter is expected.

In addition to the gas engines, diesel variants are expected to range from 75, 90 and 105 horsepower 1.6 liter units.

All in all, a lot to look forward to from Audi's Mini-fighter. Though always remember, for now these figures remain in the rumormill, until word officially leaves Audi's PR department, anything can happen.
