Audi RS5 Reportedly Using 450 hp, 4.2-liter V8

. Friday, April 10, 2009

The rumors have been swirling for months now, concerning what engine would be found under the hood of the elusive Audi RS5. According to L'Automobile Magazine, the RS5 will sport a modified version of the Audi RS4's and R8's 4.2-liter V8 matched to a 7 speed DSG gearbox.

Reportedly, the 4.2 liter V8 will pump out 450 horsepower, which may be disappointing to some, but relatively expected by us. Considering the RS5 will still out-power the 5.2 liter, V10 powered S6 and S8, it will still fall short of Audi's flagship sportscar, the 5.2 liter V10 R8. This should keep it square in Audi's lineup as a close second contender (and should be priced as such).

Still no word on when and where the Audi RS5 will be offered, but stay tuned, we're keeping our eyes and ears open to any information as it may leak out soon.
