Audi S5 Sportback Revealed - Full Photo Gallery and Specs

. Friday, August 28, 2009

When the Audi A5 Sportback was first revealed, we all knew it was just a matter of time until we saw the even sportier version of the Sportback. Enter, the Audi S5 Sportback. We have all of the details along with a full photo gallery of 14 hi-res images!

The Audi S5 Sportback features the same 333 horsepower, supercharged, 3.0-liter TFSI V6 currently found in the latest 2010 Audi S4 Sedan. Power is sent to the all four wheels via a 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive. Optionally, the S5 Sportback can be equipped with a sport rear differential that variably distributes power between each rear wheel.

According to Audi, the S5 Sportback will run a 0-62 MPH (100 km/h) time of 5.4 seconds, which is only .3 seconds slower than the smaller 2010 S4. Of course, as with all Audi's (except the R8), top speed is limited to 155 MPH.

As with most S model Audi's, styling changes are subtle yet noticeable. Sportier body moldings, grille enhancement, side skirts and small rear spoiler all differentiate the S5 Sportback from it's A5 little brother. In addition to the previously noted body modifications, the S5 Sportback also features 18 inch wheels, wearing 245/40 rubber.

Look for the Audi S5 Sportback to make it's official international debut at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show. Afterward, look for the S5 Sportback to hit European showrooms by Spring 2010 with a German price tag of €57,900. Sorry US buyers, as far as we know, the S5 Sportback will not make it to US shores.

Audi Updates Four-Ring Emblem and Logo

.

Though subtle, Audi has updated it's timeless four-ringed emblem and logo. At first glance, you may not even notice a change, however, the four rings are now a little more angular, metallic and three dimensional. In addition to the new rings, the name "Audi" now carries a more standard font rather than the previous stylized version.

Here are photos of the old logo next to the new, when compared side by side, the differences are quite noticeable.

Audi S5 Coupe to Keep 4.2-liter V8 - Possibly Through MY2011

.

Autoblog has reported that according to sources inside Audi, the ever-popular 4.2-liter V8 may be here to stay, at least until 2011. Considering the new S5 Cabrio, S4 and A6 are all now sporting the supercharged 3.0-liter V6, many thought the S5 Coupe would follow suit. However, due to popularity and demand of the V8 the S5 Coupe will continue using the "8 banger" possibly through the 2011 model year.

Spied: Matte Black Audi RS5 Test Mule

. Monday, August 24, 2009

We first started seeing spy shots of the Audi RS5 back in March, when a blue and black test mule was caught tearing up the Nurburgring. Now, it looks like the RS5 is just about ready for it's international debut at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are the latest spy shots of the RS5, sporting a matte black paint job with little or no camouflage.

As far as we can tell, original speculation of the RS5 sporting a 450 hp, 4.2 liter V8 currently found in the RS4 and R8 still holds true. We wouldn't be surprised to see Audi officially unveil the RS5 on the internet a few weeks prior to Frankfurt.

2010 Audi S4 Sedan Returns to US with $45,900 Sticker

. Monday, August 17, 2009

It's been a year since we've seen a new Audi S4 sedan reach US shores. However, it was certainly worth the wait. Audi has announced that the S4 sedan will return to America carrying a price tag of $45,900.

The price reflects Audi's initiative to make the S4 sedan a solid competitor against the BMW 335i and Mercedes-Benz C350. Of course, we feel that there's no comparison (but you knew we'd say that).

All kidding aside, with a supercharged 3.0T V6 pumping out 333 horsepower and 325 lb/ft of torque, the 2010 S4 should scream past the competition. When equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission, the new S4 clocks 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds (vs. 5.3 sec of the previous 2008 model). In addition to added performance, the 2010 Audi S4 sedan also boasts better fuel consumption. The 2010 Audi S4 manual achieves 18 mpg city and 27 mpg hwy. Certainly a large step above the 13 city/20 hwy of the 2008 model.

Look for the new 2010 Audi S models to start hitting US showroom later this month (August).

Featured Ride: Sam's 385 hp, Blue Audi S4 (B5)

.

Every once in a while we at Quattroholic like to point out those Audi's that really catch our eyes. This is one such car. Sam Williams' B5 bodied Audi S4 is truly gorgeous. In our opinion, one of the cleanest (both literally and figuratively) B5 S4's we've seen. As you can see, Sam likes to keep his S4 spotless. Here are a few pic's of the S4 at the car wash.

Sam's S4 has had numerous performance upgrades and is currently pulling "around 385 hp on race fuel!" Here's a list of his upgrades Giac chip, K&N, Sachs +rs4 clutch & flywheel, RS4 new Wheels, RS4 front & rear bumpers, H&R Coilovers, Denso sparks, m3 spoiler, huge front mount intercooler and VW R32 Mk5 front seats.

In addition to being an Audi owner, Sam can also be found cruising the streets of Malta in his blue VW Mk5 R32. Sam can be found on Twitter under the username @legomyaudi and has some great Audi tweets. Here's a big hat-tip to ya Sam, nice ride!
